Senior SAP Budget Consultant

Design
- Facilitating customer workshops demonstrating and explaining functionality and best practices;
- Analyze client budgeting processes and practices including position, operating, capital, and grant budgeting and forecasting;
- Support solution architects in developing design documentation for master accounting and human resources data, budget processes, budget form and report designs, workflow and security requirements;
- Review designs with customers and make iterative changes to respond to client feedback;
- Write functional specifications for workflows, reports, data integrations, data conversions, enhancements, and input forms;
- Review specifications with technical developers and customers, explain the design, and obtain approval for specifications
Respond to questions from developers and provide clarification.
Configure
- Configure settings in SAP systems with guidance;
- Explore SAP’s budgeting modules and learn how to configure them to client needs;
- Document changes required to SAP configuration settings to implement redesigned business processes.
Test
- Perform unit tests of standard functionality and custom budget configurations;
- Develop test cases, test scripts, and test plans with guidance;
- Support customers in execution of integration and acceptance testing;
- Execute data conversions and provide data validation assistance;
- Resolve defects and issues identified by the customer during testing;
- Anticipate, identify, and resolve post-go-live issues
- Identify and log issues and risks.
Educate
- Provide customers support by responding to questions;
- Develop training materials including exercise content, and demonstration content;
- Review training materials for correct representation of SAP functionality;
- Update all documents, configuration, and specification documentation and conduct a documentation walkthrough with customers at the end of the project.
Qualifications and Experience
- 5-7 Years of first-hand public-sector budget development and/or review experience in multiple public-sector entities such as cities, counties, K-12, higher education, special district, state and/or federal agencies;
- Experience with budgeting and/or reviewing multiple types of budgets such as position, operating, capital and/or grant budgets;
- Experience with business process design and documentation such as responsibility for the annual budget manual and/or budget book publishing;
- Experience planning, organizing and directing a significant budgetary process such as coordinating departmental budget review, orchestrating executive-level review or budget book publishing;
- Experience as a subject-matter-expert or process expert on a budget system implementation team;
- Experience with budget system application maintenance, support and/or data maintenance;
- Any combination of education, experience and training equivalent to the following:
- Graduation from an accredited graduate school with a master’s degree in public administration, business administration, economics, public policy, accounting, quantitative analysis or a related field of study;
- Five to seven years of technical budget preparation or closely related analytical work such as revenue analysis, organizational performance analysis or legislative fiscal analysis.

This role requires up to 50% monthly travel to the customer location.

This is an exciting opportunity for a public policy or budget professional with 5-7 years of budgeting and SAP experience. Our Senior SAP Budget Consultant will be an active member of the Budget Practice and our project teams, assisting in all phases of the project lifecycle: design, configuration, testing, and training. You will contribute by implementing SAP budget modules including SAP Budget and Planning for Public Sector (SBP) and SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC).
